A Coruña City, year 2830

What you are going to read next is the full text that I wrote in 2011 to accompany this futuristic representation that I made of the city of A Coruña. This work was commissioned for the interior poster and cover of the first issue of the extinct magazine "Coruña Hoy". The final text was modified by the staff of the aforementioned magazine:

"Over eight hundred years, the city has been part, like many others, of the tremendous technological and human evolution that, step by step, is uniting humanity. It was from the end of the 23rd century when there was an unprecedented historical transformation from a monetary economy to another where basic needs were covered, an economy based on resources that put an end to wars and opened the door to human creativity in all its aspects. An economy, in short, based on collaboration and not on competition. This produced a marked evolutionary increase in a short period of time. In the case of the city of A Coruña, decisions were made that radically transformed the appearance of the place. People understood, for instance, that the architecture that had existed for so many centuries was invasive and was deteriorating nature. So, in the middle of the 27th century, a spectacular mutation took place . All the buildings were recycled, except for some that were relevant in the history of the city and which had different uses over the years, and people were provided with an autonomous and intelligent home with levitation technology and capacity of movement. With this the inhabitants could travel from one place to another in their own home. For this reason, it made no sense to occupy a small space and strangle it to the point of destroying the entire surrounding natural environment. The city opened up beyond a limit on the ground.
The image we see here corresponds to Coruña in the year 2830. Where before there were skyscrapers grouped together creating a claustrophobic and oppressive atmosphere, now everything is nature. In the central part is the great Dome, a huge self-sufficient organic artificial intelligence device where all the discovered knowledge of humanity is stored, constantly updated and available to anyone and, also, the instrument that deals with all the care of the city and its inhabitants, or anyone who needs it because we are in a society where borders have been eliminated. It is a planetary society. The concepts "rich" and "poor" ceased to be used a few centuries ago.
The “highways” as we know them are no longer useful. Instead, organic structures carry transport, both of people and materials. These structures are flexible, not fixed, so that their orientation can be changed when necessary. The energy source is completely clean and inexhaustible. The use of polluting fuels also remained a distant memory.
One of the most drastic changes was the shape of the terrain. The radical changes in the climate that occurred in a surprising way in a couple of centuries and that was also one of the causes of the change in the world economy, affected A Coruña. The city acted to adapt to these transformations.
With regard to some monuments and constructions such as the Tower of Hércules or the old Town Hall, they are cared for with advanced nanotechnology that manufactures the materials that erode so that they look pristine over time.

In short: A Coruña, in the middle of the 29th century, an extraordinarily advanced city, with an evolved conscience, where the principle of respect and love for the environment and for society is the fundamental pillar of everyday life."
